How to Delete Old iPhone Backups

Part 1: Delete Old iPhone Backups on iTunes

iPhone backup files will be saved in a different folder if you are using your computer on the different operating system. Let's see what these files will be saved on your computer:

 

Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/

Windows 7/8/10: /Users/XX/AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer/MobileSync/Backup/

Windows XP: For Windows XP, replace /Users/ in the path for Windows 7/8/10 with /Documents and Settings/.

 

1. To Delete iTunes Backup on Mac

Step 1. Go to iTunes > Preferences > Devices on your Mac.

Step 2. And all the backup files of your iDevices will be shown, including iPhone and iPad. Click on the backup file you want to delete and tap on "Delete Backup" and "OK" to delete the old backup on your Mac.

2. To Delete iTunes Backup on Windows

Click  Start on the home screen, type in %appdata% in the search bar and press the Enter key. Now, the user’s AppData folder will appear.

 

Or, you can navigate to C: /Users/ (User)/AppData/Roaming but you should make sure that  Show Hidden Files and Folders are enabled in your Windows Explorer has been enabled.

After you've reached the AppData/Roaming folder on your iPhone, you need to go to Apple Computer > MobileSync > Backup. After deleting the backup in the folder as you wish and then close and reopen the iTunes Preference windows. You will find the backups gone.

 

 

Part 2: Delete Old iPhone Backups on iCloud

Step 1. Go to Setting > iCloud > Storage > Manage Storage.

Step 2. Find the name of your iPhone under "BACKUPS" list and enter it.

Step 3. Now, scroll down to the info page and choose "Delete Backup."  After that, a small window will pop up asking you if you want to turn off backup and delete all backup data for this iPhone. Just tap on "Turn Off & Delete."
